About Us

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) Foundation is an IRS sec. 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and was incorporated on September 14th, 1993. It serves as the primary source of charitable support for the members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (www.FLEOA.org).

The Foundation was created to provide expedited financial assistance to FLEOA members and their families in times of need. Since its inception, the FLEOA Foundation has awarded thousands of scholastic incentive awards to its members’ children, as well as almost $3 million in emergency financial support.

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association is the largest nonpartisan, nonprofit professional association exclusively representing federal law enforcement. FLEOA currently represents over 27,000 active and retired Federal law enforcement officers from over 65 agencies.

FLEOA is the “voice” of federal law enforcement and works with agency directors, administration officials and legislators to represent, protect and advocate for issues important to federal law enforcement officers.

FLEOA is also proud to provide its members access to the best outside legal counsel in the country. Additionally, FLEOA provides its membership with outstanding discounted benefits offered from its sponsors.

As a charitable organization, The FLEOA Foundation participates in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC #54726), and applies all funds raised in support of its members. Whether it’s for a line of duty death, injury or medical issue, the Foundation responds and delivers help to its members in need.

The FLEOA Foundation prides itself as a “First Responder” for its members, and provides prompt support without any bureaucracy.

The FLEOA Foundation hosts an annual awards ceremony in New York City to recognize a distinguished “Law Enforcement Leader of the Year.” During this awards ceremony, the FLEOA Foundation also recognizes a “Law Enforcement Patriot of the Year” that has demonstrated outstanding support for those who uphold the “Thin Blue Line.” The ceremony is hosted by Peter Kalikow and is attended by law enforcement executives and the FLEOA Foundation’s distinguished Board of Trustees (www.FleoaFoundation.org).

FLEOA and its Foundation offer corporations or individuals many ways to show their support with four sponsorship levels. Please visit the FLEOA.org website under the “Become a Sponsor” link for more information. To learn about specific FLEOA Foundation sponsor opportunities, please contact FLEOA Foundation Vice President John Bottone at jbottone@fleoa.org.

The FLEOA Foundation is proud to have GEICO as a lead corporate sponsor, as well as the Motorola Solutions Foundation.

The FLEOA Foundation is staffed by a 100% volunteer work force and uses 95% of its donations for federal law enforcement officers and their families. This is done in furtherance of the honorable philosophy of the FLEOA Foundation founder, Robert “Bob” Van Etten: “When a federal law enforcement officer is in need of emergency assistance, help is just a phone-call away.”
