FLEOA Foundation 2023 Scholastic Awards Program Guidelines

Online applications for 2023 will be accepted from May 15, 2023 to June 30, 2023.

The FLEOA Foundation Scholastic Awards Program is open to interested eligible applicants. Listed below are the eligibility rules, requirements, and directions for the FLEOA Foundation Scholastic Awards Program.

Who is Eligible? Class of 2023 High School graduates, who are the children of current/regular, retired or deceased members of the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) may apply. Note, an applicant's parent must be a current FLEOA member, and have been an active FLEOA member for a minimum of 2 years. This requirement does not apply to the children of FLEOA members who died in the line of duty.

Deadline for Application: Online applications must be RECEIVED by June 30, 2023. Any applications received after this date will not be processed.

How to Apply: Applicants must upload the following 2 items and send in one email to awards@fleoafoundation.org. In the email Subject heading, indicate: Applicant Name and Scholastic Award Application. Attach:
    A signed, completed and typed scholastic application.
    A copy of your acceptance letter from a college or university.

Note: Incomplete and/or unsigned applications will not be considered, so please provide all information requested. Also, please provide a current mailing address where you will be receiving mail between July 1, 2023, and August 15, 2023. If your address changes after you submit your application, then you are required to provide your updated address to awards@fleoafoundation.org.

How Winners are Selected: The FLEOA Foundation Scholastic Committee will independently review and evaluate each application. Scholastic awards will be awarded based on the Committee's overall assessment of the content in each application. Again, incomplete applications and/or applications missing a college acceptance letter will not be processed.
Note: The FLEOA Foundation will not discriminate against any applicant based on their race, color, religion, sexual and/or gender orientation, national origin, disability, or age.

Criteria Used for Selection: Scholastic ability - SAT/ACT scores, and High School GPA; social character based on community service, employment (not mandatory) and extracurricular activities. Please provide most current information for each.

Special consideration will be given to those applicants who are the children of FLEOA Members who were killed or disabled in the line of duty, or who died from medical complications. Hardships and/or an applicant's disability that are listed on the application may receive special consideration by the Scholastic Awards Committee.

Type of Awards: The scholastic awards will be limited to a one-time award. The awards will be remitted via a business check, so please ensure your name is spelled correctly on your application and your mailing address is current.

Notification of Awards
Notifications to all applicants will be sent by July 21, 2023 to the email address on your application. Please ensure your and your parent's contact information are correct on the application. The awards will be mailed by August 15, 2023.
